Central Methodist Educational Center (CMEC)
The Central Methodist Educational Center (CMEC) is a Christian school established with a mission to help the church in accomplishing the Great Commission of Christ as stated in the Bible.
Evangelism - reaching children for Christ, and “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.”
Education - teaching children to observe the Word of God in their studying and learning activities. “Teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you. And so, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
As a Christian school, CMEC is duty bound to provide a kind of education for children for children as demanded in the Bible. “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with promise: that it may be well with you and you may live long on earth. And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.” (Ephesians 6 : 1-4). It is a school in which children are educated in the ways of the Lord, and a school in which parents are helped in their responsibility of raising up their children, also, in the ways of the Lord.
PURPOSE – GOAL
We are created in the image of God, but, because of sin, we lost that image. It is the purpose of CMEC to provide children with an education that helps them regain the image of God or an education that helps them grow in the way Jesus grew as described in the Bible: “And Jesus increased in wisdom (intellectual aspect) and stature (physical aspect), and in favor with (God (spiritual aspect) and men (social aspect).” (Luke 2 : 52)
CURRICULUM
CMEC curriculum is Christ-centered. It is geared towards the development of the four aspects of growth of the child:
A. Spiritual Aspects.
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” (Matthew 23 : 37-38)
1. Help the child to have salvation in Christ Jesus. This is the most important spiritual step for a student to take.
(Matthew 16:26)
2. Help the child to love the study of the Word of God and practice daily devotion. (Psalm 1)
3. Help the child to have good church life and fellowship with church children. (Hebrew 10 : 25)
4. Help the child to lead others to Christ. (Matthew 28:19-20)
B. Social Aspects.
“Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matthew 22 : 39)
1. Help the child regain the image of God. He is created in the image of God. (Genesis 2 : 28; Psalm 8)
2. Help the child to set godly priorities for living:
1st priority - God (Matthew 23 : 37-38)
2nd priority - Family (1 Timothy 3 : 5)
3rd priority - Service to Christians (John 13 :34)
4th priority - Service to non-Christians (II Peter 1 : 7)
5th priority - Making a living (Matthew 6 : 25-34; Ephesians 4 : 28)
3. Help the child to learn how to apply biblical principles in dealing with other people and in handling social problems. (Matthew 18 : 15-18)
4. Help the child to learn how to use his talents and resources for the benefits of other people. All of us are God’s stewards and are accountable to God.
(II Corinthians 5 : 10)
C. Physical Aspects.
“Physical training is of some value, but godliness has value of all things....”
(I Timothy 4 : 8)
1. Help the child to build a strong and healthy body for godly living.
2. Help the child to understand that his body is the temple of God and should be protected from harmful activities. (II Corinthians 3 : 16-17)
3. Help the child to develop a program of daily physical exercises and to have a healthy diet.
4. Help the child to place greater emphasis on spiritual things rather than material things.
D. Intellectual Aspects.
“Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” (Proverbs 10 :9)
1. Help the child to see the importance of learning from God’s perspective. That is, to integrate the Scriptures with his studies.
2. Help the child to have the right motivation for his studies. He studies because he wants to fulfill the responsibility God gave him in Genesis 1 : 28:
a. Fill the earth - this is the reason for studying subjects like social studies, home economics, psychology, sociology, politics, etc.
b. Subdue the earth - this is the reason for studying subjects like physics, chemistry, environment, biology, mathematics, etc.
3. Help the child to use God’s method of evaluation. It is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful. (I Corinthians 4 : 2)
4. Help the child to set the right priorities of learning:
a. Learn the knowledge with eternal value.
I. The bible is the Word of God.
ii. Music and art inspiration from God.
b. Learn the tools for obtaining knowledge.
I. Languages
ii. Mathematics
iii. Science and computer
